“How do we stay up to date with all the channel news that comes out?” was a question that had been ringing through the Purechannels office for many years, mainly from our client services guys.
It was an interesting point so we looked at all the emails we all received – there were a lot! So I thought ‘wouldn’t it be good if we could just access all this from one place!’ We are a marketing agency so completely independent to any publication, media outlet or news source, so we set about trying to pull everything together. We created a space where we could see and search all channel news from around the world, on one dashboard and we started using it for a few months.
And then guess what… COVID kicked in, we all went home and were locked down. But then I thought ‘if it works for us, and our news, then maybe it would be of use to other channel people – especially whilst working remotely, it could be a great way for people to stay in touch and up to date with channel news when it happens. Even if you miss something, you can filter and search as you wish. So we did some thinking, built it up a bit, gave it a name and some colour, worked on the UI and launched the first edition of ‘Nuzoo’.
… the idea behind the name for those who are interested is basically that we have created a ‘news-zoo’. A zoo gathers together animals from all over the world and puts them in one single place for people to come and view? Nuzoo, does the same, but with channel news. We gather together channel news from all around the world, and put it all in one place for you to view. Imagine how long it would take to travel round the world looking at all the animals you see in a zoo! Same principle applies to Nuzoo, rather than go looking or sifting through all the channel emails, we collect them all in, and put them in one place for you.
Launched at the end of March, we have had thousands of people visit the site and it’s becoming a bigger and better thing. So, we’ve made some updates to the dashboard to improve the overall experience for existing and future users.
Of course all the current features are still available. If you don’t want to register you can just see the news as it is and search through it at your leisure. If however you choose to register your details you get a few more perks like better filtering and searching to choose the news you want to see, you can add your own RSS feeds to keep an eye on, you’ll see Nuzoo Recommends for special content and you’re able to refer friends and colleagues so they can share the experience.
So let’s see what happens, the intention is that Nuzoo can continue to provide a great place where all channel news can be gathered together in one location for you to access it… plus a few new cool things we are thinking about.
